2 Timothy 3:16-17 King James Version (KJV) states-
16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Jesus wants us to search and listen to His word, the scriptures.

There are stories in the bible of men, women, and children who had great faith, and did great things. And stories of great things God did for his people. When we read these stories we can believe that God will help us too.
Studying and reading bible verses for ourselves will keep us from being deceived.

15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

20. To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
