Gospel Song
I Have A Friend

by Geraldine, Deborah, and F. C. Barnes

I think this is a great Gospel Song about I have a friend in Jesus. Jesus is my best friend. Jesus loves us, and if we do what He asks of us we are His friend.

Jesus states in John 15:13-15 King James Version (KJV)

13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

The words to this Gospel song 'I have a Friend' -

I have a friend so dear to me
His love for me so kind and free
His name is Jesus son of God
King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Repeat Chorus

He's the joy of my salvation
when I need him he's always near.
I going to serve Him that's why I love Him
And I'm going to own Him anywhere

Repeat Chorus

What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and grieves to bare
What a privileged just to carry
Everything to God in prayer

Repeat Chorus

He's my doctor in my sick room
He comforts me when my friends are gone
He helps me bare my heavy burdens
He never leaves me no not alone

Repeat Chorus

9. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

10. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
