Daily Bible Verses 359
How do you know if one is a false prophet or a true prophet?
Deuteronomy 18:18, 21-22 King James Version (KJV)
18. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
21. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22. When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
My comments on 'Daily Bible Verses 359' False Prophet or True Prophet -
The bible states that in the last days God will pour out His Spirit and sons and daughters shall prophesy. To prophesy means to predict or foretell the future. So a prophet can tell us about future events.
Many people are calling themselves prophets. How does one know who is a true prophet or a false prophet? Well verse 2 above is clear, if their prediction does not happen they are a false prophet.
Recently dates were given for the end of the world. The dates came and went and the world is still the same. The speaker was a false prophet.
It also states in Isaiah 8:20 King James Version (KJV)
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
So if they say things that don't agree with the bible they are not a true prophet but a false prophet.
This is why you have to read and study the bible for yourself. You have to compare what so called prophet's and preachers are saying with God's word the bible.
For example, there are several books and movies out regarding 'left behind'. Is this true or false? What does the bible really say?
