Short Bible Verses

There are short Bible verses that contain just two to four words.

The shortest verse in the Bible about Jesus is found in the story of Lazarus of Bethany.

It is -

John 11:35 (King James Version)

35. Jesus wept.



Jesus had delayed coming when he heard that Lazarus was sick and Lazarus died. When Jesus met Mary she fell at his feet weeping.

John 11:32-37 (King James Version)

32. Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

33. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

34. And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

35. Jesus wept.

36. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

37. And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?



The second shortest verse in the Bible is -

1 Thessalonians 5:16 (King James Version)

16. Rejoice evermore.
